'Occasion'...
a particular event or the time it takes place... This 'occasion' has been 10 years in the making, waiting for the technology to be developed and rolled out. With the general availability of digital TV broadcast and the merging of data media, the time has finally come. Our view has always been that the dance world is made for this and deserves the technology to maintain audio and video quality. It's all about the atmosphere and being able to 'feel' the pressure. Around the World, subscribing destination Clubs, Bars and Big Screen parties receive the live feed from the hosting venue in the zone. Relayed to domestic Digital TV customers, the World Wide Weekend is made available to those not able to attend. The '4 hour Live Zone' starts on Friday night in Ibiza at midnight precisely. Broadcasting begins from there to networks taking the feed around the World at the speed of light (1,079,252,848.8 km/h). Ibiza provides content for it's allocated time slot. As the World turns, the Live Zone travels west through London towards the American Continent. At the equator and at sea level, the Live Zone has a land speed of 1669.42 km/h. That's faster than the speed of sound (1225.04 km/h). Even faster than a F-16 Fighter Bomber (1472.00 km/h). It covers a distance of 6677.67 km in 4 hours. This gives the event a wide choice of venues around the World to 'handover' to. It is seamless and the power doesn't drop as each venue is in the same 4 hour Live Zone (midnight to 4am). It changes flavour with each new Country and Continent. The Saturday night climax comes as the Live Zone returns to Ibiza from the East after travelling the circumference of the Planet a total of 40,066km. We believe the World Wide Weekend is long overdue and to be the true definition of 'occasion'... a particular event or the time it takes place. |
